Solid-wood pews with loose or cracked joints, split end panels, wobbly or broken kneeler rails, and worn or damaged finishes. The joinery and the finish are the two things that go first; both are renewable without replacing the pew.
Pew seats & cushions
Flattened, hard or torn seat and back cushions. We re-core cushions with new high-density foam, replace worn covers, and make new pew cushions to measure — using durable, easy-to-clean fabrics suited to heavy congregational use.
Kneelers
Worn or split kneeler pads and loose kneeler mechanisms. Kneelers take constant use and are one of the most common church items we are asked to recover and repair.
Refinishing worn pews
Decades of hands, hymnals and cleaning leave the finish dull, thin and marked. Stripping, sanding and re-staining brings the wood back, and a fresh protective coat helps it survive the next generation of use.

Restore — bring the whole pew back
The pew is worth preserving but has wear across several systems at once — dull finish, a loose joint or two, tired cushions. A full restoration renews the wood, the joinery and the upholstery together so the pew looks and functions like it should for decades more. The right call for historic or well-built pews you intend to keep.
Repair — one thing has failed
The pew is largely sound and the problem is localised: one cracked end, a loose kneeler, a wobbling joint, a single split seam. Targeted repair is the smaller, faster, less expensive job and leaves everything that still works alone.
Reupholster — only the cushions are done
The wood is fine but the seat and back cushions are flat, hard or torn. New foam and new covers transform comfort and appearance without touching the frame — often the highest-impact, lowest-cost option for a congregation. When a pew is genuinely beyond worthwhile repair, we tell you plainly rather than sell a restoration that is not warranted.

3. Back in the sanctuary
We plan whole-set projects in batches so the church stays usable, and schedule around your service calendar. Pickup and delivery across Greater Montreal is included. We give you a realistic timeline with the estimate — not after.

Every project is quoted individually, because cost depends on the number of pews, their condition, how much is structural repair versus refinishing versus reupholstery, and the materials chosen. A handful of pews needing new cushions is a very different job from refinishing and rebuilding an entire sanctuary. In most cases, yes. Older pews were built from solid hardwood and joined construction that is expensive to reproduce today, and they carry the history of the congregation. When the wood is sound, restoration renews the pews at a fraction of the cost of new millwork while keeping the original craftsmanship.
