Full-workshop restoration — not an on-site patch job
A church pew is built to last generations, and it usually shows its age in a few predictable ways: the finish dulls and wears where hands and hymnals have rested for decades, seams and joints work loose, an end panel cracks, a seat sags where the padding has compressed. The wood underneath is almost always still sound. Restoration means renewing those specific things — the finish, the joinery, the padding and covers — instead of tearing out pews that were made better than anything you can buy new today.

So we collect your pews, restore them completely in the shop, and deliver them back. Pew refinishing
Decades of hands, hymnals and cleaning leave the finish dull, thin and marked. In the workshop we strip, sand, stain and re-seal the exposed wood, bringing the grain back and adding a fresh protective coat built to survive the next generation of congregational use.
Structural pew repair
Solid-wood pews with loose or cracked joints, split end panels, wobbly rails and broken kneeler mechanisms. We re-glue and clamp joints, rebuild cracked ends and rails, and re-secure seats and backs using traditional joinery methods on the bench.
Pew upholstery & cushions
Flattened, hard or torn seat and back cushions. We re-core cushions with new high-density foam, replace worn covers, and make new pew cushions to measure — using durable, easy-to-clean fabrics suited to heavy congregational use.
Kneelers
Worn or split kneeler pads and loose kneeler mechanisms. Kneelers take constant use and are among the most common church items we are asked to recover and repair.
Church furniture restoration
Matching sanctuary chairs, celebrant seating, altars and other church furniture, restored to sit alongside the pews rather than clash with them. We match finishes and fabrics across the set.
Whole-sanctuary projects
Full pew sets handled in batches so the church stays usable through the project. We plan the sequence, transport and timeline with you up front and work around your service calendar.

2. Pickup & nationwide transport
We coordinate collection of your pews from your church anywhere in Canada and bring them to our Montréal facility. For larger sanctuaries we schedule the work in batches so your congregation is never left without seating.
3. Full restoration in the workshop
Every pew is stripped, repaired, refinished and reupholstered under controlled workshop conditions — proper dust control, ventilation, clamping and drying space. This is what makes the result more durable and better-finished than any on-site patch.
4. Delivery back to your sanctuary
Restored pews are delivered back and reinstalled to your schedule. You get a realistic timeline with the estimate — not after — and honest advice at every step about what is worth doing and what is not.

Controlled conditions
Stripping and staining need ventilation and even temperature; sanding needs dust control; new finishes need clean, still air to cure properly. A workshop delivers all of that. A church basement or nave cannot — which is why on-site refinishing so often disappoints.

Re-gluing joints means clamping under pressure; rebuilding ends means cutting and fitting; reupholstery means cutting foam and covers on a clean table. Our benches, clamps and machines make repairs that hold, not ones that loosen again a season later.
No disruption to your sanctuary
Because the mess, dust and fumes stay at our shop, your sanctuary stays clean and usable. We work in batches and around your calendar, so services continue while your pews are being renewed.

Every project is quoted individually, because cost depends on the number of pews, their condition, how much is structural repair versus refinishing versus reupholstery, the materials chosen, and transport distance. In most cases, yes. Older pews were built from solid hardwood and joined construction that is expensive to reproduce today, and they carry the history of the congregation. When the wood is sound, restoration renews the pews at a fraction of the cost of new millwork while keeping the original craftsmanship. We assess the frames first and will tell you plainly if a pew is beyond worthwhile repair.
