Renew the wood, not replace the pew
Refinishing is the surface-and-finish half of pew restoration. Where hands, hymnals and years of cleaning products have worn the finish thin, where varnish has yellowed or is flaking, where the grain looks grey and tired — refinishing brings it back. We take the wood back to a clean, sound surface, correct the colour, and lay down a fresh protective coat built to survive heavy congregational use. The pew keeps its original craftsmanship and character; only the worn finish is renewed.

Stripping the old finish
Yellowed varnish, flaking lacquer, and layers of old over-paint come off first. We strip the pew back to bare, sound wood so the new finish bonds properly instead of sitting over a failing surface.
Sanding & surface prep
We sand the wood to an even, clean surface and address dents, scratches, water rings and burns. Good preparation is what separates a refinish that looks renewed from one that shows every old blemish through the coat.
Staining & colour matching
We stain to match your existing pews or to a new tone for the whole set, confirming the colour on a test area first. Consistent colour across the sanctuary is often what makes a restored set look right.
Sealing & top-coating
A durable protective top-coat is the last and most important step for congregational furniture. It resists hands, cleaning and wear, and it is what makes the refinish last rather than dull again within a year.
Pew ends & detail work
Carved ends, mouldings and trim are refinished with the same care as the seats and backs, so the detail that gives old pews their character is preserved rather than clogged with finish.

2. Pickup & nationwide transport
We coordinate collection of your pews from your church anywhere in Canada and bring them to our Montréal facility. For larger sanctuaries we schedule the work in batches so your congregation is never left without seating.
3. Refinishing in the workshop
Each pew is stripped, sanded, stained and re-sealed under controlled conditions — dust control, ventilation and clean, still air to cure. This is what makes the finish even, durable and better than any on-site re-coat.
4. Delivery back to your sanctuary
